About KC&A
Kimberley Cameron & Associates is proud to be a long-standing literary agency, one that cares deeply about our clients and champions their work. We strive to uphold the unique and exceptional legacy of our agency.
Originally named Reece Halsey Agency, it was founded in 1957 by Reece Halsey, previously head of the William Morris Agency west coast literary department. Based in Los Angeles, California, the agency built an impressive client list: Aldous Huxley, William Faulkner, Upton Sinclair and Henry Miller, among others. Upon Reece’s death in 1980, his partner and wife, the legendary literary agent Dorris Halsey, took over the business, bringing her own distinctive flair by hosting dinner parties for literary luminaries and socializing with notable Hollywood personalities. Kimberley Cameron joined as her business partner in 1992 and together Dorris and Kimberley built upon and enlarged the agency’s historical roster. In 1995, Kimberley opened the branch office, Reece Halsey North, where she became a respected member of the Bay Area’s literary community and grew the agency’s genre mystery and thriller client list. She earned a reputation of being a “hands-on” agent, one that did not give up easily and would sell books after years of trying.
Kimberley & Dorris (1993)
The agency became Kimberley Cameron & Associates in 2009, with active film and foreign sub-rights partnerships and remote offices in Paris and New York. In 2012, Kimberley re-centered on the Bay Area location, mentoring new and upcoming local literary agents, bringing them on and expanding the agency.
KC&A is now a Northern California-based team of collaborative and committed agents that take pride in upholding its reputation.
